Benton · Founder & perfumer
I’m Benton, founder of HIGHSPUR and the perfumer behind ROUGH STOCK. I studied supply chain at Iowa State, and in January I go back there for a master’s in Information Systems, because I want to understand the systems that keep a business running. My love of art and design drew me to fragrance as another way to create something personal.
It started in the rooms of a social club where I used to work: an orange peel twisted over a glass, the warmth of bourbon, the smoke of burnt cedarwood. I wasn’t trying to bottle a drink, only the feeling of those rooms.
I developed the formula myself, and I make ROUGH STOCK by hand, from the first idea to the filled bottle. The strongest things don’t need to raise their voice. Read more
